Device and OS

• iPhone and iPad are supported.
• iOS 17.5 or later.

Permissions and access

• Photos access to choose a reference image.
• Files access to import .mtspz from Files, AirDrop, or other apps.
• Internet access for Demo and Learn content.
• App Store access for unlock purchases.

Open a space

1. Tap a space card in Library.
2. The editor opens with that space loaded.

Delete a space

1. Tap the ... menu on a space card.
2. Tap Delete.

Warning: Deleting a Space cannot be undone.

Locked behavior (without unlock)

• Only the most recently opened Space can be edited.
• Other Spaces stay visible but locked.
• Tapping a locked Space shows the unlock screen.

Main editor modes

• Look: move around and view your scene.
• Draw: make lines and shapes.
• Erase: tap lines to remove them.

Primary UI areas

• Top bar: close, bookmarks, share, assists, and undo/redo.
• Canvas: your 3D drawing space.
• Bottom controls: mode picker, tools, and edit/open actions.
• Side panels: navigation plus layers/settings.

Save behavior

• Your changes save automatically.
• Saves are timed to keep editing smooth.

If Draw with Apple Pencil only is enabled

• Draw and erase with Apple Pencil.
• Drag with one finger to move the camera.
• Drag with two fingers to orbit.
• Pinch to zoom.

If Draw with Apple Pencil only is disabled

• Draw and erase with one finger.
• Drag with two fingers to move the camera.
• Drag with three fingers to orbit.
• Pinch to zoom.

Additional controls

• Use gumball/orbit control for precise angle changes.
• Use the walk slider for forward/back movement.
• Use fullscreen when you want fewer UI distractions.

Drawing steps

1. Enter Edit mode.
2. Switch to Draw.
3. Open tool picker and choose a tool.
4. Adjust width and color.
5. Draw directly in the scene.

Shape tool

Choose Shape, then drag to place a rectangle in 3D space.

Ruler

Turn ruler on while drawing when you want straighter lines.

Erase mode

• Switch to Erase.
• Tap sketch lines to delete them.

Undo/Redo

Use top bar undo/redo when you have edit history.

Color system

• Standard and monochrome palettes.
• Recent colors saved automatically from your use.
• Saved custom colors.

Custom color actions

• Save your current color.
• Remove saved colors you no longer need.

Tool width

• Each tool has its own width control.
• Metaspace remembers width for each tool type.

Create a viewpoint

1. Open the bookmarks/viewpoints list.
2. Tap +.

Use a viewpoint

1. Tap a saved viewpoint thumbnail.
2. The camera moves to that saved view.

Manage viewpoints

• Delete from the context menu.
• Thumbnails are created from your current scene.

Playback

In fullscreen, you can play multiple viewpoints in order.

Reference image steps

1. Open assists.
2. Choose image from Photos.
3. Show or hide the image.
4. Adjust opacity and scale.

Important note

Assists are helper overlays. They are not saved as permanent project content.

Share export

1. Open a space.
2. Tap Share.
3. Wait for packaging to finish.
4. Use system share sheet to send/save .mtspz.

Package contents

• Scene file (note.scn)
• Project info (project.n3d)
• Preview image (preview.png)

Import steps

1. Open a .mtspz file from Files, AirDrop, or another app.
2. Choose Metaspace as destination.
3. Metaspace imports and unpacks the project.
4. Imported space appears in Library and opens.

File-level preview

.mtspz files can show thumbnail previews in Files.

Demo browser

• Download sample .mtspz spaces.
• Open downloaded demos directly.
• Delete demo files when you no longer need them.

Learn section

• Read step-by-step help and tutorials.
• Some lessons include expandable text and videos.

Important note on demos

• Demo spaces are marked as [DEMO] in the editor.
• They are best for exploring ideas and reference.

Unlock options

• Monthly subscription.
• Annual subscription.
• Lifetime one-time purchase.

Unlocked value

• Edit multiple Spaces.
• Share and export projects.
• Use the full app without lock limits.

If locked

• Library shows what is locked.
• Unlock options appear in several places in the app.

I can only edit one space

You are likely in locked mode. Unlock Metaspace to edit multiple Spaces.

Share does not proceed

Confirm the app is unlocked, then try again after packaging finishes.

Imported .mtspz does not appear immediately

Wait a moment for import to finish, then refresh. Reopen Library if needed.

Demo/Learn content not loading

Check your internet connection, then try again from Demo or Learn.

Reference image is missing in editor

Turn on Show reference image in assists, or pick the image again if permission changed.

Undo/Redo unavailable

There are no undo or redo actions available yet.

Is Metaspace a 2D drawing app with camera effects?

No. Metaspace is a true 3D sketch app where camera position is part of your project.

What file format does Metaspace use for sharing?

.mtspz. It packages your scene, project info, and preview image.

Can I reopen shared files and keep editing?

Yes. Imported .mtspz files open as editable Spaces.

Do assists get saved into the project?

No. Reference image, dot grid, and section toggles are temporary drawing aids.

How do I move faster through a complex drawing?

Use saved viewpoints, fullscreen mode, and navigation controls together.

Can I work with layers?

Yes. You can create, select, hide/show, and delete layers.

What happens if I delete a space?

It is permanently deleted.
